Collaborate in Google Hangouts
in the spring of 2012, I met Holly Hargrove, an energetic first grade teacher, to discuss ways that her
elementary students could meaningfully connect with my higher ed
students at Middle Tennessee State
University. We named the effort
Project Engage, and we decided to
use Google Hangouts to interact.
Google Hangouts is a video chat
that enables one-on-one and group
chats. I coordinated a time with
Hargrove for our Google Hangout
and sent her the URL address. After
we had both joined the Hangout,
she introduced her class to mine.
She then read The True Story
of the 3 Little Pigs! After the story,
the elementary students asked questions about the book. Hargrove then
