By allowing educators to conduct more targeted
searches and more easily find resources to meet
their students’ learning needs, the LRMI can play
a key role in enabling personalized instruction.
The LRMI will allow all this and more. What’s more,
the benefits will extend beyond just teachers and students.
Media specialists and technology coordinators will also
be able to use the LRMI to help target the acquisition and
distribution of resources at both the building and district
levels.
While not nearly as heavily publicized as big data or
personalized learning, the LRMI can play an important
role in the implementation of both. Think of it as the oil
that enables these two engines of educational growth to
run smoothly. Principals and superintendents will find
the LRMI to be a powerful tool in their efforts to bolster
student engagement and achievement both within schools
and across districts. Simply put, the LRMI will allow edu-
cators to pinpoint student needs more effectively at the
individual, class, school, and district levels.
