Technical Glitches
There were, of course, a few technical
problems. The first was finding the right
software and learning how to use it. The
software that worked well on my laptop

Take Your Class on a
Trip to a Foreign Land
Would you like to take your class on
a virtual trip somewhere in the world?
Well, you can, and it’s not that difficult.
Find a virtual trip leader. One good
place to start is by contacting a travel
organization to see if they can connect
you to someone scheduled to go to
a country you’re interested in. Other
suggestions include contacting AArP,
elderhostel, local universities, or teacher
organizations.
Prepare the class. either you or your
virtual trip leader should give the kids
the background on the country they’ll be
virtually visiting. i used the CiA website,
google images, and Wikipedia to create
a simple slide show. i also looked at the
grade level and came up with an angle i
thought might hook the kids.
Get ready to blog or email. Have your
virtual trip leader make a list, or make
suggestions of things to include in the
blog updates, such as maps or book
recommendations.
Invite your virtual trip leader to visit.
Have him or her show pictures, artifacts,
and books from the trip.
