Ah, the internet. It’s changed education a lot over the past 20
years, but perhaps the biggest game-changer has been the shift
in control over the dissemination of knowledge, from educators
and institutions to the learners themselves. One way that has
played out is in the exponential growth of online courses, which
offer learners of all ages unprecedented choice in where, when,
and how they receive their learning. According to this infographic
from OnlineEducation.net, by 2019, more than 50% of all classes
taught will be delivered online, many for free. And classes aren’t
the only option. If you have an internet connection, you have the
means to tailor your education to your schedule, learning style,
and budget by combining a variety of online learning experiences,
from instructional videos to podcasts, MOOCs, and even courses
delivered via Facebook apps.
