Tiny Bloggers
In addition to the blogs that I maintain, I also created a class Kidblog
account ( kidblog.com) called Mrs. D’s
Kindgergarten Kids, where I have set
up individual pages for each student.
I email new families in the summer
before school begins and invite them
to help their children create blog posts
sharing summer adventures, funny stories, and something interesting about
their families, such as pets, a favorite
book, or a summer activity. Many students blog about what they are reading
and ideas about books. It is a wonderful way to get acquainted prior to the
start of school. I also encourage parents
to make comments/give compliments
on any of the blog posts.
I must approve all comments,
pictures, videos, and music prior
to publishing posts.
Professional Blog
My professional blog, Kindergarten-life ( kindergartenlife.wordpress.com),
is for my self-reflection and learning
as a teacher. This blog helps parents
and other professionals understand
the rationale behind the learning that
is taking place and how I use blogging
and other web tools to make learning meaningful and fun. This blog is
public, and visitors can sign up to get
email alerts. I also tweet new posts
from my Twitter handle, @kidsinvt.
Summer Reading Blog
My summer reading blog (summer
readinginkindergarten.blogspot.
com) provides opportunities for kids
to connect with other students and
share what they are reading. Making
connections is important, and this
blog gives my students a chance to
meet other children who will soon be
entering kindergarten as well as those
who have graduated and are on their
way to first grade.
