Even when teachers and administrators are completely behind the
implementation of ed tech initiatives at their schools, one big factor
that can hold them back is infrastructure. To assess schools’ capability
to adopt various classroom technologies—including digital textbooks,
video, online assessments, and social media—network infrastructure
provider Enterasys polled 255 U.S. K– 12 schools. The survey found that
approximately 74% of responding schools would have difficulty
moving to digital textbooks within the next five years with their current
infrastructures, and nearly half don’t have the network capacity to sup-
port even basic video needs. However, 84% already have the capacity
to monitor students’ online activities. Here is an excerpt from the info-
graphic showing just a few more of the survey’s surprising results.
