Teachers and administrators are getting the message that technology is a must in digital age classrooms. According to a Common
Sense Media online survey of U.S. educators conducted by Harris
Interactive in May 2013, teachers overwhelmingly agree that ed tech
increases student engagement, enables personalized learning, improves student outcomes, and helps students collaborate. However,
teachers and administrators have different priorities when choosing tools,
as shown in this excerpt from the Graphite.org infographic representing
the survey’s results. While they agree that improving students’ learning potential and teachers’ ability to teach is of paramount importance,
teachers are more interested in a technology’s ability to make learning fun
and engaging, and administrators are more concerned about alignment
to standards. Administrators also place more emphasis on quality, while
teachers focus more on whether they can get the tool for free.
