ISTE Designates Seal of
Alignment for PD Programs
Oracle Academy has become the first
organization to earn an ISTE Seal
of Alignment for Mastery in accordance with the ISTE Standards for
Computer Science Educators. Oracle
Academy, the education arm of the
Oracle computer company, earned
the designation in September for its
computer science professional development certification program.
In October, eMINTS National Center
also earned a Seal of Alignment for
Mastery for its comprehensive professional development program and
its strong alignment with the ISTE
Standards for Teachers. eMINTS
National Center at the University
of Missouri offers research-based
professional development programs
to K– 20 educators.
ISTE’s Seal of Alignment program
reviews and recognizes resources for
their alignment to the ISTE Standards and the extent to which they address particular standard indicators.
The ISTE Seal of Alignment is designed to help teachers and students
identify products that support and
facilitate ISTE Standards and skills.

New Ways to
Make Your Voice Matter
ISTE members will have a chance
to participate in a more active and
robust public policy and advocacy
program in the coming year.
Beginning January 1, ISTE will
launch a new advocacy network to
help amplify member voices on fed-
eral and state education policy. Look
for new resources designed to help
you communicate with state and fed-
eral policy makers, collaborate with
peers to advance advocacy initiatives,
and strengthen our collective voices
to influence policy decisions.
“Building on the success of our
current advocacy program, ISTE
is enhancing our work by sharing
advocacy best practices, highlighting
ISTE members’ advocacy work, de-
veloping more advocacy toolkits and
other advocacy resources, and sup-
porting ISTE members to influence
specific state legislation,” said Hilary
Goldmann, ISTE’s senior director
of government relations.

( blog.iste.org) regularly to find new
position papers, information on federal and state policy, and a rundown
of ISTE’s new advocacy offerings.
