Each year, ISTE presents the Outstanding Leader and Teacher awards. These
awards recognize and honor one leader
and one teacher who have demonstrated
outstanding achievement and leadership
in implementing technology to improve
Award recipients are selected from a
pool of nominations submitted by ISTE
affiliates from around the world. If you
are interested in participating and do
not currently represent an ISTE affiliate,
please locate the appropriate represen-
tative in your region and contact that
individual to discuss your interest
SIGMS Technology Innovation This annual award will be presented to two teams of a school librarian and collaborating teacher who have conducted an exemplary technology program extending beyond the library to meet the needs of classroom students and teachers. One award will be given to a team from both a primary and secondary school. Eligibility Any teams of a school librarian and a collaborating teacher from a primary or secondary school or their equivalents are eligible to apply.
Making IT Happen
Making IT Happen, sponsored by Pearson
Foundation and Cable in the Classroom,
is an internationally recognized awards
program for educators and leaders in the
field of educational technology integration
in K– 12 schools. The program identifies
and rewards educational technology leaders around the world for their commitment and innovation.

SIGOL Online Learning
ISTE’s Online Learning Special Interest
Group has recognized creative teachers
for their pioneering use of telecommunication networks to provide innovative
learning opportunities for school-age
students in grades K– 16.
Any educator who is involved in inno-
vative telecomputing learning activities
that will have been completed between
February 1, 2010, and June 1, 2011.
Sylvia Charp Award for District
Innovation in Technology
T.H.E. Journal and ISTE will identify and
recognize a U.S. school district that has
shown effectiveness and innovation in the
application of technology districtwide.

SIGTE Research Paper Award
This award from ISTE’s Teacher Educator
Special Interest Group (SIGTE) recognizes
excellence in research in the area of
technology and teacher education.
All research papers accepted for presen-
tation at ISTE 2011 are eligible for the
SIGTE Research Paper Award.
Kay L. Bitter Vision Award
Kay L. Bitter Vision Award for Excellence
in Technology-Based PK– 2 Education is
a scholarship awarded to a PK– 2 educator who has demonstrated vision and
creativity in a project or program that
effectively integrates technology in the
classroom and/or school.
Open to any PK– 2 educator.
Public Policy Advocate of the Year
This award recognizes an individual who
is an outstanding leader and mentor
in advocating for education technology policy at the local, state, regional,
national, and/or international levels.
Open to all educational technology advo-
cates, except legislators.
ISTE Outstanding Young Educator
This annual award will be presented to
an outstanding young educator (under
the age of 35) who demonstrates vision,
innovation, action, and transformation
using technology to improve teaching
Any educators who will be under
35 years of age as of July 15, 2011,
are eligible to nominate themselves.
