NBC Learn, the educa-
tional arm of NBC News,
is teaming up with sci-
entists from the National
Science Foundation and
Olympic athletes to visually demonstrate scientific principles
that play crucial roles in how well an athlete performs. The
free 16-part video series, “The Science of the Olympic
Winter Games,” is narrated by NBC News anchor Lester
Holt. It will explain principles such as gravity, friction, velocity,
acceleration, drag, and resistance. The project offers class-
room teachers a timely way to incorporate the Olympics into
classroom learning.

A-List Education has
launched Vocab Videos, a system designed
to bring vocabulary to
life by using humor, pop
culture, and engaging
characters to help increase students’ understanding and
retention of vocabulary words. Vocab Videos teaches students more than 500 of the most frequently tested words
found in advanced high school English classes by illustrating
the words using video parodies of popular television shows,
such as Lost, The Office, 24, and Gossip Girl. Subscriptions
cost $9.99 a month or $49.99 for a six-month subscription.

MTV invites young adults to enter
the Redraw the Line Challenge,
a contest aimed at stopping the
spread of digital abuse. Individuals
or teams of up to five people can
enter to win $10,000 by submitting digital projects that will
help young people identify, prevent, and stop sexting, cyber-bullying, and textual harassment. Projects can include short-form viral content, mobile services and applications, digital
interactive experiences and installations, online gaming,
widgets, or enhancements to existing social networks.
