Each year, the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) recognizes outstanding individuals who through
their exceptional work and achievements have made a signi cant impact in the eld of educational technology. These
prestigious awards strive for the highest degree in excellence in several categories.
ISTE Outstanding Leader of the Year
ISTE Outstanding Teacher of the Year
Each year, ISTE presents the Outstanding Leader and Teacher awards. These
awards recognize and honor one leader
and one teacher who have demonstrated
outstanding achievement and leadership in implementing technology to
improve education.

• Award recipients are selected from
a pool of nominations submitted by
ISTE Affiliates from around the world.

region and contact that individual to
discuss your interest.
SIGMS Technology Innovation
This annual award, sponsored by
Linworth Publishing, Inc. and Follett
Software Company, will be presented
to three teams of a school librarian
and collaborating teacher who have
conducted an exemplary technology
program extending beyond the library to
meet the needs of classroom students
and teachers. One award will be given
to a team from an elementary, a middle,
and a high school.

• Any teams of a school librarian and
a collaborating teacher from an elementary, middle, or high school or
their equivalents are eligible to apply.
Making IT Happen
Making IT Happen, sponsored by
Pearson and Cable in the Classroom,
is an internationally recognized awards
program for educators in the field of
educational technology integration in
K– 12 schools. The program identifies
and rewards educational technology
leaders around the world for their
commitment and innovation.

K– 12 schools
SIGTEL Online Learning
Since 1991, ISTE’s Telelearning Special
Interest Group (SIGTel) has recognized
creative teachers for their pioneering use
of telecommunication networks to provide
innovative learning opportunities for
school-age students in grades K– 16.

• Nominations Close:
March 31, 2009, 5:00 pm PST
• Winners announced in April
Eligibility
• Any educator who is involved in
innovative telecomputing learning
activities that will have been completed between February 1, 2008,
and June 1, 2009.
